Proposed slipway extension

£1400 grant for slipway at Point Quay

Five young people from Point & Penpol have received some great news. The five got together to complete a Grant Application and media presentation to Our Money Your Dream. A grant of £1409 was awarded last week, following the presentation by the children in Penryn.

A delighted Ewen Abram-Moore, Chair of Point Quay Association said “Thanks to the efforts of five local youngsters, we have now reached our funding target, and work can soon commence on the slipway extension.”

During the presentation last week, Ben Speirs and Hannah Fox pointed out the safety issues for local children saying “The current drop from the Quay wall makes it very difficult to recover water craft, so we can only be in the water for a short time around high tide. In practice, we can only use Restronguet Creek for a few hours a week during term time”.
Mr Abram-Moore added “It has been a terrific fund raising effort by the whole community, and it is very fitting that our youngsters have put the final block in place. We`re very proud of them”.
